It was not my intention for the present to have referred again to your letter of the 3rd November enclosing copy of Despatch 2126 dated 23rd August from Sir Hercules Robinson to Mr Cardwell; having no desire that any change should be made in my salary until the Mint becomes successful.
On further consideration, observing in a letter from the Colonial Secretary at Hongkong, that the actual decision on the subject of my salary rested with the Secretary of State, and further that from a remark in a note from Sir Frederic Rogers Bart: ...
